Offered here for your consideration is a Walla Walla prison braided calf skin bridle. If you like intricate craftsmanship, then this calf skin braided bridle is perfect for you! This bridle features several beautiful details, including the leather braided artistry running throughout, embellishments of silver buttons and a chin strap that is nicely detailed with horse hair tips. Walla Walla was one of only a few penitentiaries that had a metal shop where bits, spurs, and conchos were also made. Many horsehair and leather bridles were created by inmates of the West's prisons. Some institutes created "hobby programs" in order to keep inmates busy as it was believed it would keep them out of trouble. Walla Walla prison operated a curio shop and prisoners made bridles, bits, and spurs from the 1890s till the 1950s. Bid on this lot for your chance at owning a spectacular bridle!
