A LACQUER SUZURIBAKO (WRITING BOX) Edo period (1615-1868), 18th/19th century Rectangular with a slightly domed kabusebuta (overhanging) lid, decorated in gold and silver takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, kirikane, and gold foil overlays with egrets and jakago (stone-filled reinforcement baskets) beneath a bridge against a ground of nashiji, the interior of the lid with a boatman plying a barge loaded with brushwood, with plovers in flight above, the box fitted with a rectangular inkstone and a circular gilt-copper water dropper, all against a nashiji ground 9 3/4 x 8 5/8 x 1 1/2 in (24.8 x 22 x 3.8cm) For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
