Milhoan (American, 1894 – 1981) This is an oil on canvas of a western Mountain landscape signed lower left and dated 1976 by Listed New Mexico artist Leo J. Milhoan. Before his death in 1981 Milhoan had been an artist for over 50 years.A large portion of his life was spent in the West, and Southwest. He was especially interested in the Indian, and was friendly with various Tribes, including the Pueblo . His paintings show the vivid colors of the great West and his knowledge of Native americans. Milhoan had painted well over 1,000 Canvases, of Native Americans, Western Landscape, and Cowboys.
