Description
Three framed antique English hand coloured soft ground etchings by Henry Alken (1785 - 1851) from the 1824 series titled, "British Proverbs." Sold and framed by Detroit art dealer Hanna & Noyes. Etchings range in size from 10" - 10-7/8" x 8-1/4" - 8-3/4". Frames range in size from 12-5/8" - 13-1/8" x 10-7/8" - 11-1/8". From the collection of Phillip Siebert. Condition
Unexamined out of frame. Etchings have been trimmed and there are indications that they were pinned or tacked at some point. In addition there is surface loss, fading, foxing, rubbing, and possible staining to each etching.
