With a double-page engraved frontis, [8], 88; [6], 53, [1] pp. bound in 19th century 1/2 morocco over marbled boards. ****** An interesting collection of bizarre astrological and meteorological occurrences observed throughout England, recorded here for the purposes of prompting readers to repent and turn "to the Lord, whose hand is lifted up amongst us."Among the numerous accounts are included the sudden appearance of seven pillars of smoke, the appearance of three moons, a meteor which took the form of a dragon, the birth of a strange creature from the womb of a woman (creature like that of a man-child but hairy, with two heads, one of which was like that of a lion, which ran throughout the house crying "woe, woe, woe, to the world"), and other strange reports.Ex Harvard Library with their old bookplate (with released stamp) to pastedown, blind-stamp to title, and ink-stamp to title verso.
Condition
First part with water-stains to several leaves, some light foxing and occasional similar spots or minor stains, age-toning, final two leaves trimmed at foot costing catchwords; engraved frontis is detached (along with endpaper), chipped, and laid down.
