Emery Kelen. Original artwork. Includes a self-portrait of Kelen as a bird in pen and watercolor; another drawing cut and pasted to 4to leaf with caption "to be or not to be? - Alas, poor Tibet. I know her well" with a 5-page article on Nehru. Also includes another four-page article on Krishna Menon accompanied by a pen drawing of the same. All on 4to leaves.******** Emery Kelen (Hungarian, 1896-1978) was one of the most influential mid-century cartoonists. He fought in WWI and is especially well-known for his political cartoons, such as his caricatures of delegates from the League of Nations. He moved to New York in the 1930s and worked as a cartoonist; his work appeared in the New York Times, Esquire, Washington Post, and other prominent publications.
