Item Details
Description
Vivian Maier (American, 1926-2009) Tiny Tearstorm, circa 1950s Gelatin silver print 13-1/8 x 10-1/2 inches (33.5 x 26.7 cm) (image) 14 x 11 inches (sheet) From the Ron Slattery collection Tiny Tearstorm is a rare example of Vivian Maier's large format photography. Fewer than 300 exhibition sized prints such as this are known to exist, and they stand as powerful evidence of her artistry and of how she chose to present her work in her lifetime. While it's estimated that Vivian Maier took upwards of 100,000 photos, the vast majority of her work surfaced as negatives, making all vintage prints exceedingly rare, and the 20 large format offerings in this sale remarkable finds.
