Item Details
Description
Vivian Maier (American, 1926-2009) In the Junkyard (15 works), 1968 Dye coupler prints on Kodak paper 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches (6.4 x 8.9 cm) (sheets) Some with date stamps, lower margin recto. From the Ron Slattery collection This lot is comprised of a series of fifteen color images taken at a junkyard that take twisted metal and mud as an opportunity for poignant and eerie experimental imagery with moments of abstraction. While it's estimated that Vivian Maier took upwards of 100,000 photos, the vast majority of her work surfaced as negatives; color prints such as these are unusual.
