Vivian Maier (American, 1926-2009) Actor on the Set of Taxi (2 works), 1953 Gelatin silver print 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 inches (6.4 x 6.4 cm) (images) 2-3/4 x 2-3/4 inches (sheet) Inscribed in pencil, verso. A stunt double for the star of the film Taxi stands for portraits by Vivian Maier on a busy street outside 983 Third Avenue in a rare set of portraits of a conventionally handsome man shown in flattering views. Maier shot extensively the day that Taxi was filming on location on this NYC street. According to research by biographer Pamela Bannos, Maier may have been taking photography classes and often using a studio darkroom in the building featured in Taxi.
