Tiger head hats have been used in China at least since the Sui Dynasty (581-618 to protect both children and warriors. This extremely fine and beautiful hat features embroidered fish,, bats, flowers and a water buffalo on brightly colored patches which have been appliquéd onto the background of this long-necked child's tiger hat that dates from the late Qing Dynasty. 9 x 8 x 7 inches.
