Owl and Hare is one of approximately seventy prints belonging to the unique Dorset Series, also known as the Dorset Collection, the Northern Collection, or Northern Releases. This series stands apart from the annually catalogued Cape Dorset prints, which were featured in southern galleries. Instead, the Dorset Series prints were made available through more informal means, often sold directly to visitors at the West Baffin Eskimo Co-op. This local and smaller distribution has led to their relative scarcity on the art market, marking a stark contrast to the more readily accessible "regular" prints.
