Chuta Kimura (Takamatsu, February 25, 1914 - Paris, July 3, 1987) was a Japanese painter.BiographyChuta Kimura was born into a wealthy family, his father was a real estate developer, a descendant of famous samurai of the 18th century. He grew up in Takamatsu, on the island of Shikoku, in southern Japan. At the age of 13, in 1927, he studied drawing at the Takamatsu School of Decorative Arts, where he discovered the work of Picasso and the Fauves. In 1936, he tried his luck at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, but preferred to return to his native island.
