Shimon (Szmaja) Karczmar was born in Poland studied in Warsaw School of Fine Arts, then in Ecole des Beaux Arts. After the war emigrated with family to Israel. Also lived in Canada and the USA, returned to Safed in 1962. Exhibited in Montreal YMHA, in Centro Deportivo Israelita (Mexico), and Israel, including Ramat Gan City Museum, Herzl Institute, Central Art Gallery and Murray and Greenfield gallery in NY, Klutznick Exhibition Hall in Washington.
