Rhonda Holy Bear
Hunkpapa Lakota (Cheyenne River Sioux), (b. 1959), a female Ghost Dance doll with carved wood face, horsehair locks, and fabric body, the painted dress and partially-beaded moccasins of hide, depicted holding a pipe in one hand and a branch in the other, apparently unsigned.
height 18 1/2in, width 9in

The dress is modeled after a circa 1890 Southern Arapaho Ghost Dance Dress in the collection of the Plains Indian Museum at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, object ID NA.204.4.

Condition
In good condition overall with some minor wear and losses to the chicken feather elements commensurate with age. Some cracking and wear to two of the triangular fringed hide drops on the dress sleeves, minor wear to the others. The branch with a loss at one end, and appears loose; the pipe stem broken at one end - missing bowl.
