The primary series of 18 parts editioned 187 of 570 sets, the Hebrides one of 790 numbered copies. Consisting of 20 volumes: the 18 volumes of the Private Papers, the uniform Boswell's Journal of a Tour to the Hebrides with Samuel Johnson LL.D and the 1937 Index, in red card or red card with cloth spines as issued (except for the Index which is entirely in red cloth); all but the index in publisher's slipcases. Various sizes; various paginations. Some minor fading and wear, but this is generally an attractive set of this magisterial production. This set does not have the 1931 Oxford University Press catalogue by Pottle and Pottle.
