The Sound and the Fury. New York: Jonathan Cape and Harrison Smith, 1927. First edition. Publisher's black and white patterned boards with white cloth spine lettered in black, in the first issue dust jacket (Maurice Hindus's Humanity Uprooted priced at $3.00 on rear panel), housed in a fine morocco backed clamshell case. Jacket with restoration to extremities and folds with a vertical crease repaired on the rear panel and some inpainting to the red areas on the front panel, fade to red on spine, the volume sound but with light shelfwear and tissue strengthening to hinge, slip of Bauman Rare Books laid-in.
An attractive copy in jacket of William Faulkner's fourth novel, the first of his Yoknapatawpha series. Petersen A6b.
