WILDE, OSCAR
De Profundis. London: Methuen and Co., 1905. First edition, limited issue, one of 200 unnumbered copies printed on hand-made paper. Original white linen, gilt designs after Charles Ricketts (of the dove imprisoned and free), top edge gilt, others uncut. 9 1/4 x 5 1/4 inches (23.5 x 14.5 cm); x. 11-151, [1] pp. Some darkening to spine and soiling, corners a trifle bumped, a few spots of foxing at the beginning and end. The publisher's catalogue at the end is not present as is often the case.
Wilde wrote De Profundis to Lord Alfred Douglas whilst imprisoned; it was published by Robert Ross, his executor, five years after his death.
