Description
A Monograph of the work of McKim Mead & White, 1879-1915. New York: The Architectural Book Publishing Co., [1915]. Four volumes, old cloth with leather spine labels (the set was initially issued in portfolio form, which was often bound, as is likely the case here; it was also issued bound by the publisher). 20 x 14 inches (50.5 x 35.5 cm); 400 photograph plates (including 2 double-page and 1 folding; these are counted as 2 plates each). Bindings soiled and rubbed, especially the spine labels. Some minor toning to the plates, thumb-soiling to plate edges, clearly a set that saw use in an architect's practice. Extra copy of one plate laid-in. Bookplates of A. Hopkins (presumably the noted American "estate architect" Alfred Harral Hopkins, based in New York); together with PLATT, CHARLES A. and ROYAL CORTISSOZ. Monograph of the Work of Charles A. Platt. New York: The Architectural Book Publishing Co., [1925]. Later printing. Publisher's brown cloth. Light wear; and [WISTER, OWEN and others]. A Monograph of the Work of Mellor, Meigs & Howe. New York: The Architectural Book Publishing Co., [1923]. Publisher's half cloth. The first work apparently complete, but the lot sold as a group, not subject to return.
