Hannah Gilson is interested in the role of both women and animals in folklore, mythology and story telling. Gilson plays with familiar imagery and juxtaposes it with pop cultural references and messages of female empowerment. The artist places particular importance on the colour of her artworks, using it as a way to draw in the viewer, where they are then able to see the myriad of references and narratives.

'Wonder' is a perfect example of the narrative that Gilson investigates with her artwork – a print that tells the tale of female empowerment through icons of pop culture.
