Pencil-signed in the bottom right margin, initialed and dated in the plate, from the edition of 250 originally distributed by Associated American Artists. Housed in a contemporary glazed wooden frame measuring 22 3/4" x 18 1/2".

 

The iconic centerpiece of Curry's Kansas State Capitol mural Tragic Prelude, John Brown depicts the radical abolitionist in the throes of righteous fury, standing tall before the unforgiving landscape of Bleeding Kansas.
