Item Details
Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan, ca. 800 to 1500 CE. A superb and large smoking pipe made from contrasting textures: a highly burnished bowl, legs, and mouthpiece, with a twisted and pitted stem. In Pre-Columbian Mexico, tobacco and other herbs were used for medicinal and ceremonial purposes, and an ornate pipe such as this may have been reserved for religious or elite members of society. Size: 9.75" L x 3.5" W x 5.2" H (24.8 cm x 8.9 cm x 13.2 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-private Estate collection, Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA, acquired 1960 to 2024

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
