Description
Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Altiplano, Period VI, ca. 800 to 1350 CE. A hand-built pottery bowl of shallow form with thick walls and a planar base. Adorning the interior of the basin are repeating registers of inverted red and gray L-forms, inversely corresponding stepped blocks that include orange pigment, and a central band of 4 abstract avian creatures surrounding a fifth, smaller creature. Size: 7.2" Diameter x 1.8" H (18.3 cm x 4.6 cm)

Condition
Small chips to rim, with light abrasions and fading to pigment, otherwise in great condition. Nice preservation to painted motifs within basin.
