After taking private art lessons at an early age, Fournier went to the ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lyon and later to the ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In Paris, Fournier met a group of older artists who had studied at the celebrated Academie de la Grande Chaumiere. This academy specialized in continuing the tradition of ecole de Paris. His works of the cafes and boutiques of his adopted Paris are small gems which capture all the atmosphere and flavor of the City of Lights.
