After Agnolo di Cosimo called Bronzino (Florence, 1503-1572): "Portrait of Cosimo de Medici in Armor," oil on canvas, Renaissance or later; framed in a fine replica Renaissance Black & Gold Leaf frame with title, "Cosimo de Medici / Fiorenza Dvce" to center bottom. Height of art 38 1/4 inches (97 cm.) X width 28 inches (71 cm.). NOTE: It is known that Bronzino and his workshop alone painted about 25 slightly differing versions of this popular portrait. The most accepted original is in the Uffizi in Florence but there are others more or less comparable to this one in the National Museum in Poznan, Poland, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australia, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Madrid, the Toledo Museum of Art, Ohio, the Galleria Palatina, Florence, the Tesoro dei Granduchi, Florence, the Gemaldegalerie Alte Meister, Kassel, the Metropolitan Museum, New York, and the Museo Nazionale di Palazzo Mansi, Lucca.
