Born in China. Began painting at the age of twelve. Zheng was selected from thousands of art school candidates in China to study oil painting at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1978, where he received rigorous and systematic training for four years. He graduated with a distinguished academic record and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Oil painting in 1981. Zheng's work as a professional artist includes painting, drawing, illustrating, sketching, designing, and portraiture. He taught fine arts at Shantou University of China from 1981 to 1987. Zheng moved to California in 1987 and has continued to produce fine paintings that are influenced by his special passion for the light and shadow with human figures. The romantic pleasing effect of his paintings enhances his strong skill in figure and line development. His technique of softly blending figures of realism with the gentle touch of classic impressionism is quite effective, judging from the popularity of his most recent works. The outcome of his latest series displays Zheng's talent in the balance of color, light, and shadow together with the figures. Lin Zheng's first oil painting "New Paintings on Campus" was printed and published in China when he was eighteen. Since then, many of his paintings have been shown, published, and collected widely in the United States, China, Australia, Canada, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
