After Ridgeway English "Clytie The Water Nymph" Bust Sculpture - (15.4lbs)

In Greek mythology, Clytie was a water nymph who was deeply in love with Apollo, the sun god. However, when Apollo abandoned her, Clytie was left heartbroken. In her sorrow, she would sit immobile, gazing at the sun from dawn till dusk. Over time, her body became rooted to the ground, and she transformed into a sunflower. According to legend, this is believed to be the origin of sunflowers, as they perpetually turn their faces towards the sun, much like Clytie did in her longing for Apollo. The story of Clytie and the sunflower symbolizes unrequited love and eternal devotion.
