He studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. He was a student of Christian Griepenkerl and Emil Jakob Schindler (the father of Alma Mahler-Werfel born Schindler). After the death of his teacher (1892), Moll married Schindler's widow, Anna (born von Bergen).Moll was a founding member of the Vienna Secession in 1897 and, in 1903, encouraged the use of the Belvedere Gallery to display exhibitions of modern Austrian art. In 1905, together with Gustav Klimt, he left the Secession, although Moll continued to participate in the art exhibition in Vienna, including the first exhibition in Vienna of the work of Vincent van Gogh (the second painting on the sideboard in his 1906 self-portrait portrait is Van Gogh's Portrait of the Artist's Mother). His paintings are characterized by the use of pointillist techniques within a strict organization of the painting surface.--------------------He was a sympathizer of National Socialism. He committed suicide before the Red Army entered Vienna in April 1945.
