Western Europe, France, Paris & United States, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A collection of three early wood, elephant ivory, and brass clarinets. The boxwood clarinet with the ivory bell ring is marked by the French maker Martin Freres with the bee emblem: "Martin Fes. / A / Paris." The other boxwood clarinet is not marked and possibly from the early 1800s. The ebony wood instrument is marked on the bell "J.T.L. / Jerome / Thibouville /-Lamy / Paris / 92 / The Specialty / J.W. Pepper / Philadelphia and Chicago," made by French instrument maker Jerome Thibouville-Lamy & Cie and likely distributed by the American sheet music publisher, James Welsh Pepper. Size: 19.75" L x 3" Diameter (50.2 cm x 7.6 cm
This is an ESA antique exempt piece of ivory and cannot be sold internationally or to anyone residing in the states of California, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington. We guarantee that the piece was made prior to 1972.

Condition
Chip and loss to the wood bell on unmarked clarinet and loss to brass key. Brass bell ring on ebony clarinet is completely loose. Martin Freres clarinet has green patina and abrasions to wood. Joints are loose or tight, and missing keypads and tight / loose keys on all. Not tested for playing functionality.
