Tomislav Petranovic, also known as Rvat or Thoma, Croatian, born 1934, two pen painting on paper depicting rural scenes with an elderly couple. The first depicts an interior scene with an elderly couple sitting at the table, titled in Croatian, Near the Ploughman, and signed, upper to the center. The second depicts an outdoor scene with a sitting elder woman, inscribed in Croatian, sketch, and signed, lower left. Both are framed. Tomislav Petranovic was born in village of Prvca, near Nova Gradiska in Croatia, in 1934. He graduated from the Art Department of the Teacher Training College in Zagreb in the class of professor Mladen Veza. Tomislav Petranovic persued caricature, design, stage design, acting, satire etc.He started painting in 1966, and is professional painter since 1972. Critics consider his work to be oneiric, labeling it as poetic surrealism. Tomislav Petranovic Rvat Thoma took part in some 100 group exhibitions and held around 30 one man exhibitions.His works are part of many museums, galleries and significant public and private collections worldwide. In year 2016 to 2017, Nova Gradiska Town Museum hold retrospective exhibition, 50 paintings for 50 years of painting. During same event the monograph also in English written by Academic and Art Writer Tonko Maroevic was published. One of a kind artwork.
