Description

A Rare Household Cavalry Officer's Dress Sword 19th Century Of regulation pattern, with tapering fullered blade double-edged towards the point (some old pitting towards the point), ormolu hilt retaining much of its original gilding (some old wear in places), compressed globular pommel with knurled medial turns, and spirally-grooved fishskin-covered grip bound with copper wire (one strand loose), in later brass scabbard with two openwork panels lined in fishskin on one side, and two rings for suspension 97 cm. blade Footnotes: These swords were formerly referred to as the 1814 pattern, however they were in use circa 1805-1832.
