An English Silver-Hilted Small-Sword London Silver Hallmarks For 1722, Indistinct Maker's Mark, Possibly Of George Willcocks With colichemarde blade of sharply tapering hollow triangular section etched on both sides of the forte with scrolling flowering foliage, hilt sparsely cast and chased with foliage against finely punched grounds on the raised borders of the double shell-guard, quillon-block with plain arms, lobed rear quillon, knuckle-guard, and around the tang button on the globular pommel, and with swelling flattened grip bound with twisted silver wire between silver ferrules 74.8 cm. blade Footnotes: For information regarding George Willcocks, 'gifted silver-hilt maker and sword cutler', see Leslie Southwick, London Silver-hilted Swords..., 2001, p. 258.
