Description
NOT ELIGIBLE FOR IN-HOUSE SHIPPING. DESCRIPTION: Bronze relief after Pierre-August Renoir's (1814-1919) Danseuse Au Tambourin III. Inscribed Renoir lower right. Marked 4M/99M. In 1918 Louis Morell modeled three plaster reliefs under Pierre-Auguste Renoir's direction. These reliefs were inspired by the artist's painting La Danseuse au Tambourin, executed in 1909 and now in the National Gallery, London. The New York sculptor Bruce Hoheb made four molds of the terracotta reliefs in March 1984 and these were used to make lost wax bronze casts at the Joel Meisner and Co Foundry, located on Long Island. The bronzes were made and distributed at the behest of Parker & Parker Ltd. in collection with the Renoir family. All terracotta molds were destroyed. MEASUREMENTS: 17-3/4" wide x 29-3/4" high.
