This charming little watch was produced by the legendary house of Gruen. Gruen Watch Company was Swiss and American watch manufacturer that was founded in 1894 by Dietrich Gruen. The company was headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, and it produced a wide variety of watches, including pocket watches, wristwatches, and chronographs. Gruen watches were known for their high quality and stylish designs, and they were popular with consumers for many years.
In the 1920s, Gruen was one of the largest watch manufacturers in the United States. The company employed over 1,500 people and produced over 1 million watches per year. Gruen watches were sold all over the world, and they were worn by a number of celebrities, including President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Elvis Presley.
Our own family store in Los Angeles was a Gruen store. They were great to work with because they had a large and sophisticated line. Their watches were dependable and their service was excellent as well. They always had new ?cutting edge? designs as well.
The dial on this watch was produced by the Stern Freres Dial House in Geneva Switzerland. Stern was the largest and most renowned dial house in the world at the time. In the early 1930s Patek Philippe filed for bankruptcy due to the world wide depression and there was only one company in Switzerland that could save it. Stern bought Patek Philippe Watch Company and today The Henry Stern Agency owns Patek Philippe.
Owning a watch like this is like owning a piece of history that you can wear and count on to get you there on time, every time.
