Zhou Leyuan was one of the four great masters of late Qing dynasty, known for his exceptional skills in the art of inner painting snuff bottle. The exact dates of his birth and death are unknown. His inner paintings, whether in the form of painting or calligraphy, exude an elegant, fresh, and naturally beautiful artistic enjoyment, without any sense of artificiality. His depictions of flowers, birds, plants, and insects are executed effortlessly, appearing vivid and lifelike, accompanied by the sounds of birds singing and insects chirping, brimming with interest. This snuff bottle painting was created in the year of Gui Si, which corresponds to 1893 in the reign of the year of nineteen Emperor GuangXu. It is believed to be one of Zhou Leyuan's late or pinnacle works. Please refer to Bonham's auction.
