Description
Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Maya, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A pair of polychrome pottery vessels, a shallow dish and a carinated jug with a spout and handle. The dish has a serpentine motif, and the jug has concentric circles around the shoulder. Size of jug: 5" Diameter x 6" H (12.7 cm x 15.2 cm); bowl: 6" Diameter x 1.5" H (15.2 cm x 3.8 cm)
Provenance: private Reinsmoen collection, Clear Lake, Iowa, USA, acquired through descent from Robert Anderson, acquired prior to 2000

Condition
Restoration to rim of bowl with new material and overpainting to this area. Loss to the rim of spout, otherwise intact. Scattered manganese deposits on the surface of both.
