The group also won Best Folk Recording and Best Performance by a Vocal Group at the Grammy awards in 1963. The album was certified 2x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA by 1986. Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold album award is a fourth presentation "R hologram" award that would have been manufactured sometime from 1990-97 making it around 35 years old.

It is presented to the late Artie Mogull, a record executive who worked with and/or signed Peter, Paul & Mary, Bob Dylan, Laura Nyro, Olivia Newton-John, Wilson Phillips, Hootie and the Blowfish and worked with many others.

Note that a Gold level record award for this album should have been issued as a RIAA "flower hologram" style award (made from 1986-89) since by 1990 the album was already 2x Multi-Platinum. This is either due to the manufacturer not making the correct level of award or some other error. However, because the executive recipient was directly involved with the group, the construction details of the award, and the manufacturer, we believe it to be genuine.

Other than minor frame and plexiglass mars, the award is in Very Good condition complete with original backing paper and Fitzgerald Hartley manufacturer sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
