CIVIL WAR US M1850 STAFF SWORD & LEGION MEDAL
Civil War US Justin P. Kellogg Attributed M1850 Staff and Field Officer Sword and Named Loyal Legion Medal. (1) M1850 Attributed Sword. Single edged blade with fuller. Double acid etched with "US", foliate and patriotic patterns. "Iron Proof" acid etched on the spine. No visible maker marks. Decorated, brass hilt with "D" guard, "US" and foliate designs. Twisted wire and leather wrapped grip. Steel scabbard with hand engraved brass fittings. (1) Military Order of the Loyal Legion Medal. Original case named to Kellogg. Serial number "13191" engraved on the suspension ring. Includes six rosette pins marked "US Patent 1888 France" on the reverse. Included is a letter from a relative of Kellogg on Collectors Firearms of Houston, Texas letterhead stating it has been in their possession since 1905.

Good. Blade has moderate oxidation and dark spots. Blade tip has pitting. Hilt has patina and scuffs. Scabbard has pitting and oxidation.
