Roman Gold and Mother of Pearl Ring with Agate Intaglio of Apollo, c. 2nd Century A.D.
The shank made of three wires terminating with gold spirals, an oval bezel inserted with agate stone engraved with the figure of standing Apollo holding bow and arrows, nicely framed by a rope pattern filigree and a line of mother of pearl beads. Exquisite.

Apollo is one of the most important gods of ancient Greece and Rome and revered as the greatest archer of all gods. He was often described as carrying a silver or golden bow and a quiver of silver or golden arrows.
