[SLAVERY DOCUMENT]. Manuscript Appraisal Bill of Slaves. [State of Alabama, Wilcox County, 29th August 1851]. 3 4to pages on one folding bifolium of plain white ruled paper. Total sight size approximately: 12 ¼ x 15”. Framed under glass on both sides. Frame size approximately: 15 ⅛ x 18”. Each page with 2 vertical and 3 horizontal creases, some wear, toning, a few ink markings smeared. Very good. Not examined out of frame. “The appraised bill of the Estate of Joseph Barson Deceased / 1 Boy Dave at … $600.00 / 1 Man Marke at … 250.00 / 1 Boy William at … 400.00 / …” as well as appraisal of the land, livestock, and chattel portions of Barson’s estate. Signed at the end of the document by the appraisers, James Gilley [?], John McWhorter, and Wm. Matson [?].
