Description

Possibly German or French, circa 1890. Large polychromed tin toy, possibly Issmayer, with pair of cyclists riding on high wheeled bikes around a connected base fitted with flag, the cyclists placed so that they can pass each other as they travel around the base. Apparently unmarked. Provenance: The Collection of Jerome & Bridget Dobson, Atlanta, GA; acquired at Sotheby's New York, Sale 7238 Important Antique Toys from the Estate of Carol F. Andersen, December 12, 1998, Lot 184.
