Description
Comprising a blue and white 'scholar and monk' ovoid jar, late-Qing dynasty, with an apocryphal Kangxi four-character mark on the bottom, decorated with a scene of a scholar accopanied by attendant greeting a monk holding a flywhisk and another scholar in a garden setting, 7 in. (17.8 cm.) high, 7 in. (17.8 cm.) wide; a small famille verte yellow-ground 'scholars' ovoid jar and cover, late-Qing dynasty, decorated with a scene of three scholars greeting each other, and an attendant on the top of cover, mid-Qing dynasty, 5.7/8 in. (15 cm.) high, 4.3/4 in. (12 cm.) wide; and a small copper-red-glazed vase, 5.1/4 in. (13.4 cm.) high, 2.7/8 in. (7.3 cm.) wide.
Condition
Blue and white jar: the bottom was drilled with a hole, otherwise good condition; the famille verte jar and cover: the bottom of the jar and the top of the cover were both drilled with a hole to each, few chips on the inner side of the cover associated with the hole; the copper-red vase: the mouth was shortened, with few nick to the mouth rim.
