Description
Richard Bresnahan (American, 20th/21st c). Group of seven ceramics including six swirl cups and a footed melon bowl or tray. All wood fired by Bresnahan at The Saint John’s Pottery at St. John's University, Minnesota. Wheel thrown with natural ash decoration.
Bresnahan is know for his wood fired pottery using local Minnesota clays and fired in a Japanese-style Anagama kiln. He trained under Sister Johanna Becker, OSB, at Saint John’s University as well as spending nearly four years in an apprenticeship in ceramics with a Living National Treasure family in Karatsu, Japan.
Height ranges from 2 1/4 in to 5 1/2 in; diameter ranges from 2 1/2 in to 11 in.

Condition
No visible cracks or chips. Minute losses on top rim of cups. No signs of restoration under UV light. Wear along underside and footrim as expected from age and use.
