Description
Native American, Southwestern United States, Arizona, Chaco Canyon type, ca. 1150 to 1250 CE. A hemispherical pottery bowl formed via the Puebloan coil-and-scrape technique. The deep vessel features a round, but stable base, a thick rim, and a white-ground basin surface decorated with dense black linear motifs of triangular, serrated, spiraling, and linear forms. Anasazi pottery was an invaluable utilitarian item for storing agricultural goods as well as a beautiful commodity for trading. Size: 8.29" Diameter x 3.8" H (21.1 cm x 9.7 cm)

Condition
Professional repair and restoration, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions and fading to original pigment, with areas of fire-darkening on the base, otherwise in nice condition. Great preservation of motifs within basin.
