Superb and rare hand woven beaded panel /door made by the Yoruba people of Nigeria.This ethnic group is known for their beadwork, this intricate and time consuming beading were used to form this beautiful door/panel representing animal figures and masks over a blue and red background. The colored beads symbolizes the chain of divine ancestors and suggests the continuity of life, while the masks are to be understood as those of royal ancestry, including Odùduwà, the legendary founder of the Yoruba Kingdom. The leopard symbolize all that is noble, courageous and honorable. Authentic Ashoke cloth covers the back. Minor bead losses. Measures:....69 3/4" In. High....30.5" In. Wide....1 3/4" In. Deep.
