Grouping of 4 fraternal organization ceremonial swords, silver flask, etc., all belonging to the same family. The swords include: Sword with engraved blade marked "John Frederick Banthin"- with scabbard and original leather carrying case -total size of sword within scabbard 40 1/8"L - also sold with his name tag, pins and Evans cigarette lighter in original box, the lighter marked "George E. Stringfellow / Imperial Divan / A.A.O.N.M.S./ Member of Crescent Temple / Trenton N.J."- the sword in very good if not excellent condition; sword with an engraved blade signed "George Lewis Tracy" - with near matching scabbard as previous - total size of sword within scabbard - 39 1/4"L; an older sword and scabbard with old leather carrying case signed "J.A. Langdon / Naugatuck Conn." - slight chip to what appears to be a reeded bone handle, some use wear to handle, but overall good condition - the scabbard in old black paint - the case with wear and losses -total size of sword within scabbard 36"L; and a sword without scabbard signed "Ames Sword .../ Chicopee ...", and having an engraved blade marked "Louis Pearson" on one side and "St. John's Commandery / No. 1 K.T." on the other side - very good condition - total sword size 34 1/2"L - probably late 19th century. Also includes a heavily engraved circular fraternal flask marked "Al Malaikah / Los Angeles / May 4th to 11th 1912" - good condition - 4" diameter. Descended from the Reverend James Johnson family, Easton CT (Reverend Johnson, 1734-1810, graduate of Yale University). The Reverend Johnson homestead was constructed in 1760 and has been in the same family for over 7 generations. He was the first minister of the Congregational Church of Easton a position which he held for 40 years. The item(s) identified here, were once owned by the Reverend or a descendant.
