"A Ranch for Danny" by Clyde Robert Bulla, illustrated by Grace Paull, published by Thomas Crowell Company, New York, copyright 1951, First Edition, "First printing" is stated on the copyright page.
Hard boards, red cloth with gold lettering on spine, 6.1/2" x 8"; 84 pages, with many monochrome illustrations and 2 double-page music songs, discarded library book with stamps, library pocket and "discarded" stamp, some wear, very good condition.
A little boy who has been living on his aunt and uncle's ranch fears that he may have to move back to the city and give up riding in the rodeo, until his parents finally find a ranch of their own to buy.
Clyde Robert Bulla (1914-2007) was an American writer who wrote over fifty books for children. He received his early education in a one-room schoolhouse where he began writing stories and songs. In 1962, Bulla received the first award of the Southern California Council on Children's Literature. He was the first recipient of the Southern California Council on Children's Literature award for distinguished contribution to the field.
Grace A. Paull (1898-1990) was an American artist, illustrator, and author. She designed greeting cards, illustrated children's books, and painted people, landscapes and flowers. Her work is included in the collections of the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute and the National Gallery of Art. Illustrations by Paull are included in the Grace Paull Collection at the University of Minnesota Libraries.
