Description
A 1914-15 Star medal trio to a recipient in the Essex Regiment who transferred to the Labour Corps after being wounded in the back and ended the war serving with 3rd East Anglian Field Ambulance in a prisoner of war camp. 1914-15 Star medal, British War and Victory medals, “3549 PTE. J.W. FLACK ESSEX R.” Accompanied by a single round fibre board dog tag ‘3549 FLACK J 6 ESSEX CE’. John William Flack, a resident of Leigh on Sea, Essex, attested into 6th Battalion Essex Regiment on 9th November 1914. He served with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force in Egypt arriving on 4th August 1915. He received a gunshot wound to the back on 26th March 1917 and on his return to service on 9th October 1917he transferred to the Labour Corps (#275573). On 28th June he was compulsorily transferred to the Royal Army Service Corp (#477511) serving with the 3rd Eat Anglian Field Ambulance attached to No.2 Prisoner of War Camp in Heliopolis, Cairo. He returned to the UK on 21st June 1919 and was disembodied on 21st July 1919.
