Description

Both El Arte Peruano en la Escuela books 1 and book 2 are autographed and inscribed by the artist-authors Elena Izcue and Victoria Izcue to Ethel Traphagen, dated May 6th, 1939, NYC. These remarkably well-preserved workbook-style instruction folio books were created to educate the students on traditional pre-Colombian Peruvian design and helped to establish the unique and authentic Peruvian design that is world-recognized to this day. First published 1926 in Paris France by Editorial Excelsior. Includes 30 + graph paper scale design sheets, glassine trace paper designs, multiple poly chromatic litho prints of art by Elena Izcue, pages are stamped on verso Property of Ethel Traphagen, and the three workbooks ( book 1 and two copies of book 2 ) are ex libris from the personal collection of the founder of the Traphagen School of Design Library. None of the folio workbooks is complete and all show use, wear, and handling. Cardstock and ribbon closure portfolio cover, internal pages on various materials - thick graph paper, glossy print sheets, and glassine trace papers. Please observe the photos provided for the best indication of the condition and content of this lot.
