A GOLD, ENAMEL, AND GEM-SET NECKLACE, 19TH CENTURY
In the Renaissance style, the polychrome enamel links set with alternating foil-back rubies and pearls, mounted in gold, and suspending a conforming pendant, the reverse with counter enamel, length 17 1/4 in.

Accompanied by a bill of sale from C.I.&H. Christophe, Venice, dated July 15, 1884, stating that the necklace is from a noblewoman of the Island of Brazza (currently Brač), Dalmatia, and dates it to the late 16th or early 17th century. The letter goes on to state that the necklace is likely Venetian, based on the style of the enamel.
