Kimber creates psychological portrait studies within environments reminiscent of the Brother?s Grimm fairy tales. She finds beauty in the unexpected with a color palette informed by the light at dusk. Her inspiration is drawn from nature, the woods of upstate New York where she spent her childhood and also her subjects themselves, as she has said: ?The delicate strokes and strata are a glimpse into the internal world of the person I am painting ? strong creatures they are, but they all have stories and they all have their cracks and fault lines and intricacies.
